Cleveland Browns:
Bernie Kosar is back with his miracle elixir to cure what ails the Browns
"There is no bigger fan of former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar than the one currently residing in this corner of Dawg Pound Daily. We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve watched Kosar’s performance against the New York Jets in the double-overtime victory in the 1986 playoffs, or his touchdown pass to Webster Slaughter to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers that same year. We often find ourselves thinking about what might have been if Kosar hadn’t suffered one injury after another, beginning with the season-opening game against the Kansas City Chiefs in 1988."
Trade me? Cleveland Browns fans can’t team’s losing ways
"So here we are. Another year, a little over half way in the books, and the Cleveland Browns sit at 2-7 in the cellar of the AFC North. Sigh. Rumors swirled a week ago of left tackle Joe Thomas potentially being traded to the Broncos for a first-round pick in the NFL Draft at some point. Yes, we are to the point that even Thomas, a lifelong Brown and Pro Bowl left tackle, isn’t even untouchable."
Cleveland Browns waive LB Jayson DiManche, DB De’Ante Saunders
"The Cleveland Browns made a trio of roster moves on Monday, waiving linebacker Jayson DiManche and defensive back De’Ante Saunders, while signing offensive lineman Garth Gerhart to the practice squad. The club announced the moves on its website. The Browns signed DiManche on Oct. 20 and he appeared in one game. Saunders was just promoted from the practice squad last week, appeared in the Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and is now a free agent."
Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals: Film Room Session
"The Cleveland Browns failed to show up in the second half Thursday in Cincinnati against the Bengals. The Browns offense failed to record a first down in the second half until the 3:27 mark of the fourth quarter. By that point the Browns trailed by 21 points and the game was out of reach. In the last three weeks the Browns have been outscored 55-3 in the second half of games."
Haslam’s promise hovers over Johnny Manziel-Josh McCown decision (ESPN)
"One major factor to consider in the discussion about whether Johnny Manziel or Josh McCown should start Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh is Jimmy Haslam’s preseason promise. On Aug. 1 Haslam said that “we’re not going to blow things up” after this season. There was little equivocation. Which leads to the quarterback decision."
Should the Cleveland Browns fire Mike Pettine? (WFNY)
"The Cleveland Browns’ season is lost, but we’re still talking about it because they’re the Browns. This is an email conversation between Michael Bode and me regarding the Browns and some of the “hot topics” that are currently chasing the team through the media. Up next: Should the Cleveland Browns fire Mike Pettine?"
Is there a role for Bernie Kosar with the Cleveland Browns? (NEOMG)
"Jimmy Haslam became the Browns’ owner on Oct. 22, 2012. Since then, the franchise is 17-33, building a home in the AFC North basement. There have been coaching changes and front office makeovers. But the results have yet to follow. The frustration with the fan base is building, as the Browns have started 2-7, with little reason for optimism during a a four-game losing streak. On Sunday, Bernie Kosar offered his assistance, promising to fix the organization within a few years of taking over."
NFL News:
Aqib Talib suspended one game for eye-poke (NFL.com)
"Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib’s adventures in eye-poking on Sunday against the Colts will result in a suspension. The NFL notified Talib he has been suspended without pay for this Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs for his eye-poke of Colts tight end Dwayne Allen. The NFL said Talib violated safety-related playing rules with the action. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Talib will appeal. Mike Klis of NBC-9 in Denver first reported the story."
New England Patriots: 5 reasons Dion Lewis injury will be overcome (NFL Spin Zone)
"New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis has been one of the breakout stars of the 2015 regular season, but his first year in Foxboro has been cut short by an injury. Lewis went down with a non-contact knee injury in yesterday’s breeze of a win over the Washington Redskins, and the Patriots immediately ruled out the former Pitt star. Today, the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride reported that Lewis is indeed done for the remainder of the season, as the pass-catching specialist tore his ACL. Some held out hope that it would merely be an MCL injury or that Lewis would avoid missing the rest of the year, but it looks like the MRI has confirmed the worst for Lewis."
Eagles’ Lane Johnson: I put ‘extra mustard’ on Greg Hardy blocks (ESPN)
"Two of the Philadelphia Eagles linemen whom Greg Hardy faced Sunday pulled no punches toward him after the game, wielding inflammatory rhetoric to express their displeasure of the Dallas Cowboys defensive end. While the league and the NFL players’ union have declined to comment after photos of Hardy’s bruised ex-girlfriend from his expunged domestic violence case were made public last week, Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson and center Jason Kelce were outspoken after Philadelphia’s 33-27 overtime win."
