NFL Power Rankings: Cleveland Browns on downward slide
"Josh McCown, Johnny Manziel. Bad defense. Dysfunction. Bad uniforms. Losing. It has been a non-stop party through the first nine weeks of the 2015 NFL season for the Cleveland Browns. The Browns head to Pittsburgh this Sunday losers of four in a row, six of their past seven and 12 of their past 14 games, dating back to last season. It all has head coach Mike Pettine looking for answers to far too many questions."
"Being a fan of the Cleveland Browns is not an easy undertaking, especially over the past 20 years. From the continual losing, to the never-ending coaching and front office changes that perpetuate that losing, to almost daily rumors from people pushing their own agenda about dysfunction within the team, to a young quarterback who can’t play (but maybe should) to an old quarterback who can play (but maybe shouldn’t), to former players selling miracle cures, it takes a lot of work to be a fan of the Browns, even though they are Cleveland’s unquestioned No. 1 team."
Report: Alec Scheiner gaining influence with Cleveland Browns’ Jimmy Haslam (Factory of Sadness)
"The Orange and Brown Report’s @TheRealLA_ spoke with a “confidant in the Cleveland Browns organization,” and it was revealed that team president Alec Scheiner is gaining influence with the Browns’ team owner. While Scheiner doesn’t have anything to do with picking players, it sounds like the former Dallas Cowboys’ executive is putting himself into position to have more say over the on-field product."
Mike Pettine wants Johnny Manziel to take early, open throws before running (ESPN)
"Johnny Manziel admitted he missed the chance for some easy throws in the Cleveland Browns’ Week 9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. “I think I did some good things,” Manziel said Wednesday as the Browns prepared for their next game Sunday in Pittsburgh. “And I think there were some things that were there that I didn’t see or I just missed a little bit.”"
Josh McCown’s ribs still painful and Johnny Manziel might start in Pittsburgh (NEOMG)
"Josh McCown admitted Wednesday that his ribs aren’t coming around as quickly as he had hoped. “You want to make progress every day so I feel like we’ve done that,” he said after practice Wednesday. “It’s not necessarily always as fast as you’d like and as much progress as you’d like, but I do feel better and so you kind of take it a day at a time and see what happens.”"
NFL News:
Oakland, San Diego and St. Louis argue to keep teams at NFL meetings (ESPN)
"The three NFL cities in line to potentially lose their NFL teams to Los Angeles made thorough and impassioned presentations to the league Wednesday as a step toward keeping them. Officials from Oakland, San Diego and St. Louis spoke to the league’s Los Angeles, stadium and finance committees, all three of which play some role in a potential relocation. Oakland spoke first and was followed by San Diego and then St. Louis."
Greg Hardy, Jason Garrett discuss Twitter bio change (FanSided)
"Greg Hardy is continuing to be a massive distraction for the Dallas Cowboys. Being that distraction, he is continuing to rack up visits with his head coach Jason Garrett, and it was no different again when Hardy met with Garrett again to talk about whatever moronic thing Hardy did this time. On Wednesday, Hardy decided to change his Twitter bio to say “innocent until proven guilty,” which once again had a lot of people rolling their eyes at the defensive end."
Big Ben insists he won’t rule himself out vs. Browns (NFL.com)
"Ben Roethlisberger was carted off the field during a game for the second time this season on Sunday after suffering a mid-foot sprain during the Steelers’ 38-35 win over the Oakland Raiders. NFL Media’s Albert Breer reported at the time that the quarterback is expected to miss at least a few weeks with the injury. An optimist would look at the team’s Week 11 bye as a godsend and hope Landry Jones can get theSteelers past the Cleveland Browns in Week 10 and possibly set up Roethlisberger’s return in Week 12 or 13."
