Cleveland Browns:

Johnny Manziel relegated to third string after latest incident

"Just when we thought the drama was over, it was announced by the Cleveland Browns that Johnny Manziel will not be starting against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. In fact, he will be behind both Josh McCown and Austin Davis on the depth chart. This announcement comes after pictures surfaced of Manziel having a bit too much fun this weekend, with alcohol being involved. This means McCown is thrust back into the starter’s role just when we all thought it was time to see Manziel be given some playing time to develop as a quarterback. But it is unclear if Mike Pettine is doing this as a temporary punishment or rather to get Manziel on the bench and keep him there."

Cleveland Browns may be turning away from Johnny Manziel

"The Cleveland Browns once again find themselves at a crossroads with quarterback Johnny Manziel. Just when it seemed like both the team and player could concentrate on what happens on the field, the bye week interceded, a video came to light showing Manziel in a bar in Texas, and the road to (relative) normalcy is once again littered with potholes. Browns head coach Mike Pettine set things off today by saying that Manziel’s latest social media starring role is “disturbing – very.” “I want to sit down and discuss it before I knee jerk and kind of go off on a potential tangent with it,” Pettine said, according to ESPN. “It’s a little easier to handle when it’s just a one-time occurrence, but when behavior repeats, not just him but with anybody, it’s certainly a cause for concern."

Mike Pettine, not Johnny Manziel, does the next right thing

"By failing to do the next right thing as I wrote he did back in August, Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel likely killed any chance of ever fulfilling the hopes and dreams of Cleveland fans who expected big things when Manziel was drafted No. 22 overall less than 18 months ago. But by “doing that next right thing,” Browns head coach Mike Pettine may have saved his job with the Browns. Twelve Step programs don’t preach perfection, but they do preach accountability. When Manziel sidestepped the questions about the Texas party videos by saying “he hadn’t seen them,” he may not have been telling the truth or was looking to hide something. Either way, the right thing to do was to man up and call his sponsor or support network – most certainly his coach – and immediately making amends."

Cleveland Browns: Memories of 1964 title game

"December 27, 1964. Four generations of Cleveland fans have immortalized the date, recalling it easier and with more joyful excitement than birthdays and anniversaries. I was there – and remember more about that Sunday in old Cleveland Municipal Stadium than from my own Bar Mitzvah at Euclid Jewish Center the day prior."

Johnny Manziel timeline with Cleveland Browns (ESPN)

"Mike Pettine’s decision to take the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback job from Johnny Manziel came because of a series of off-field missteps by the second-year quarterback, which culminated with the most recent video of him holding what appears to be a pink champagne bottle at a club in Austin, Texas. Here’s a look at Manziel’s time with the Browns, going back to the draft."

Fan cries over Johnny Manziel on radio show (FanSided)

"Johnny Manziel, quarterback of the Cleveland Browns is a very polarizing character. Some fans love him, and think he is the future of the team, but others think he is just one of the many quarterbacks that will not work out for the Browns. But has one fan, Bill, taken things much too far? Has Bill let the Manziel situation control his emotions and his life? Maybe so. Bill called into a radio show called The Bull and the Fox clearly emotional about the way Manziel was headed. Calling Johnny Football a “drunken bum” the caller emotionally let his feelings out about how Manziel doesn’t carry the Cleveland Brown image. The fan cried as he told why he was so frustrated about the quarterback situation."

NFL News:

Broncos’ Peyton Manning out two more weeks with torn plantar fascia (ESPN)

"Call it doctor’s orders, but Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will wear a walking cast on his injured left foot for the next week and will miss, at minimum, the next two games, after getting a second opinion on a partially torn plantar fascia. Manning, who missed the Broncos’ 17-15 victory over the Chicago Bears Sunday, was in Charlotte, N.C. Monday to consult with Dr. Robert Anderson, a noted orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle injuries. Manning returned to Denver Tuesday and met with Broncos coach Gary Kubiak as well as the team’s medical staff. Anderson’s recommendation, according to the Broncos, is for Manning to wear a cast for the next week and after the cast is removed to then begin the next round of treatment on the injury."

Five replacements for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia (FanSided)

"The 2015 season has just not gone the way that the Philadelphia Eagles had envisioned. Whether it’s injuries or instability with the roster, the Philadelphia Eagles are on the fast lane to imploding before the 2015 season even ends. After Sam Bradford got hurt a couple of weeks ago, it’s felt like a nightmare scenario all over for the Eagles again as Mark Sanchez has been thrust back into duty to try and save the season from getting away from the Eagles. While the NFC East is never over until someone runs away with it– and to this point no one hasn’t, the Eagles haven’t really given any indication for anyone to believe that they are going to make a run this season at a division crown."

Semifinalists for Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2016 class (NFL.com)

"The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2016 was trimmed down to 25 on Tuesday during NFL Network’s Gold Jacket Semifinalists special. The original field of 108 nominees and these selections will be cut to 15 in early January. The group of semifinalists includes 22 players and three coaches, with 15 players on offense alone. Two of the biggest names are in their first year of eligibility: Brett Favre and Terrell Owens. Favre is certain to be a first-ballot choice, while T.O. will be one of the more fascinating case studies in recent history. The third player in his first year of eligibility, Alan Fancea, also has a real chance to make it to Canton."
