The Cleveland Browns take on the Baltimore Ravens tonight on Monday Night Football. This matchup is not exactly a dream for ESPN executives, but Cleveland fans will get to see their floundering team get a national television game that the Browns can actually win.
A win would get the Browns out of last place in the AFC North, thanks to a tiebreaker against the Ravens, but some fans may be hoping for a loss to secure a better draft pick.
It always seems to be one of those years with the Browns, but a Monday night win would at least bring some good will to this fan base desperate for success.
Recent draft bust Johnny Manziel will be active tonight, but as the third string quarterback. His first-round counterpart, Justin Gilbert, will actually be starting tonight because of a depleted secondary.
This may be Gilbert’s last chance to keep his roster spot with this team, or any team in the NFL. His bad attitude and lack of success on the field has left him dangerously close to being unemployed come January.
Joe Haden highlights the inactive list tonight, which also includes wide receiver Andrew Hawkins, wide receiver Taylor Gabriel, defensive back Pierre Desir, defensive back Don Jones, offensive lineman Joel Bitonio, and defensive lineman Randy Starks.
As always, remember to comment on this post to keep the discussion going throughout tonight’s game.
