The Cleveland Browns will try and use momentum from last week’s win over the San Francisco 49ers today when taking on the Seahawks in Seattle.

The Cleveland Browns are fresh off a 24-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday, but things will get much tougher today. Exponentially tougher.

The Browns are in Seattle to take on the Seahawks in one of the most difficult places to play. Factor in an inexperienced Johnny Manziel and a 3-10 Browns team, and things may get ugly.

Last week’s victory over the 49ers snapped a seven-game losing streak. While the difference between 2-11 and 3-10 is not great, the win did help bring back some positivity when talking about the Browns. The 37-3 loss two weeks ago against the Cincinnati Bengals seemed to signal the end for this coaching staff, but last week showed that there is still fight in this team.

The win also showed that there may be a future for Manziel in Cleveland. One can argue that the 49ers didn’t actually present any sort of visible defense to Manziel or the rest of the Browns offense last week, but the win got people excited and a strong performance, and dare I say a win, in Seattle will only increase his chances of being this team’s quarterback.

A win would make him a hero because beating this Seattle team seems highly unlikely. The Seahawks are 8-5 and have won four straight games. They have scored at least 35 points in each of the last three games, and have allowed a combined 13 points in the last two games, which were victories over the Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens respectively.

This four-game winning streak has seen Russell Wilson play out of his mind. He has 16 touchdowns in the four wins, and threw for five last week against the Ravens. The Browns defense does not look prepared to stop a red-hot Wilson, especially in Seattle. If Joe Haden was healthy, things may be different, but the entire secondary is in for a rough day.

So right now it looks like the Browns don’t stand a realistic chance. But let’s have fun and say they win this game. What’s next?

The first thing is that Manziel will be tough to remove from the starting role next year, given he doesn’t do anything idiotic off the field, which is a lot to ask at this point. It also means that Mike Pettine will save his job. Taking this 3-10 team into Seattle and beating a dominant Seahawks team makes Pettine look great, but does nothing for Ray Farmer’s chances of staying, or at least I hope.

Rallying a bad team is great for a coach, but it is hard for a GM to use that as evidence of anything other than the coach pulling a miracle.

I could speculate more, but we will know what the feeling is moving forward around 7 p.m. tonight.

Prediction: Seahawks 31 – Browns 17
