Cleveland Browns:
Cleveland Browns dropped by Seattle Seahawks, 30-13
"The game opened up with Johnny Manziel leading a 15-play, 80-yard touchdown drive finished off with a Gary Barnidge touchdown catch. This would be the only touchdown for the Browns on the day. Much of the momentum from that opening touchdown was erased after the Seahawks went on a 14-play, 69-yard touchdown drive right after the Barnidge touchdown. The Browns defense had no answer for Russell Wilson, who finished with three touchdowns. He now has 19 passing touchdowns in his last five games, so expecting this defense to stop the streak may have simply been wishful thinking. There are just too many missing pieces, removing any chance of being a successful football team."
Cleveland Browns lose to Seahawks, 5 takeaways
"The game started on a positive note as the Browns, led by Johnny Manziel, went down the field for an 80-yard touchdown drive to start the game. Manziel looked cool, calm and collected on the drive deciding not to run for a score but throw a bullet to tight end Gary Barnidge for a touchdown. However, after this first drive it was basically like watching every other Browns game. Keep in mind that the Seahawks have won their six of their previous seven games and are looking like Super Bowl contenders once again. After all, they are the two-time defending NFC Champions."
Mixed results for Johnny Manziel in 30-13 loss to Seattle (ESPN)
"Johnny Manziel opened Sunday’s 30-13 loss to Seattle with an excellent touchdown drive, but then his team scored just six points the rest of the game. His supporters can point to at least four dropped passes that hurt the offense’s continuity and progress and to the fact the Browns defense had nothing to match against Russell Wilson. Manziel’s detractors can point out that this season he beat two teams with a combined seven wins (San Francisco and Tennessee) and scored 10, 9 and 13 points against three good teams (Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Seattle)."
The Johnny Manziel picture is clearer but no less complicated (NEOMG)
"Johnny Manziel is the only interesting topic in a 3-11 season. So we’ll bypass the obvious – that Mike Pettine’s defense will probably be what gets him fired – and address what a 30-13 loss to Seattle did for Manziel’s future. Prolonged it is the safest bet. Assured it? Hardly. Manziel showed more improvement, especially considering the circumstances and the strength of his receiving corps."
Cleveland Browns “meh” in 30-13 loss to the Seahawks (WFNY)
"The Cleveland Browns have had an oddly bad season in 2015. While it’s been a total disaster in the standings, there have been moments where a bad team hasn’t quit when it might have been understandable. They added another odd one to their season on Sunday as they lost to the Seahawks 30-13. Did the Browns play badly? No. There were some decent things on Sunday. Did they play well? Not a chance as they dropped balls and got beat on defense with lapses in coverage and tackling. Everyone expected the Browns to be overmatched against the Seahawks and they were. Nothing too controversial unless you think another loss is controversial."
NFL News:
Eric Weddle signs autographs for two hours after Chargers game (FanSided)
"It seems like the Chargers might have played their last home game in San Diego — at least that’s the feeling after their Week 15 matchup with the Dolphins. At the very least, the result was a Chargers win, but safety Eric Weddle wasn’t satisfied with only leaving fans with that. Weddle made sure to sign autographs for every fan that wanted one after the Chargers beat the Dolphins on Sunday."
Odell Beckham, Josh Norman mix it up in Panthers’ win (NFL.com)
"The Odell Beckham-Josh Norman matchup included a lot of fireworks during the Panthers’ 38-35 win Sunday, but most of it occurred after the whistle.Beckham and Norman tangled on two separate occasions in the first quarter of the Panthers-Giants game, kick starting an afternoon’s worth of mixing it up. Beckham was extremely lucky to be hit with only three personal foul penalties instead of being ejected. (Beckham wound up with four total penalties.) In one third-quarter sequence, Beckham took a blindside shot directly at Norman’s helmet."
AJ McCarron is the first Alabama QB to win in NFL since 1987 (Yahoo)
"With a 24-14 victory over San Francisco, Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron didn’t just solidify the Bengals’ playoff positioning; he ended a strange, ugly streak of Alabama quarterback failure in the NFL. From one perspective, the list of quarterbacks from the University of Alabama who have succeeded in the NFL is an impressive one, including Bart Starr. Joe Namath and Ken Stabler."
