Bernie Kosar is the latest person trying to talk some sense into Johnny Manziel.

Johnny Manziel has found his way back into the news without uttering a single word or showing up on a single leaked photo or video.

No, Manziel has not been spotted roaming the streets of London in a poorly constructed disguise. His newest crime is not returning Bernie Kosar’s calls.

Kosar spoke with USA Today yesterday and said how he has tried to call Manziel “18 different ways” without success. This news should not be surprising at all to any Browns fan who has witnessed the disaster of Johnny Football in Cleveland.

But why is Kosar trying to talk to someone who has done nothing but hurt his own image and that of the franchise?

He clearly has good intentions. Kosar truly wants Manziel to avoid a troubled lifestyle, even though it may be too late for that. There is no problem with Kosar trying to talk to the infamous quarterback, but he should be smart enough to know that Manziel is a lost cause.

The headlines saying that Manziel ignored countless calls from the Cleveland legend almost seem laughable at this point. Of course he ignored the calls. Manziel did not even show up to the final game of the season. So why would anything think he would answer Kosar’s calls?

More from Dawg Pound Daily

We are talking about someone who was reportedly in Las Vegas in disguise one night before the final game of the NFL season. Whether it is true or not, it is hard to take Manziel’s side on any issue that arises because of his repeated mishaps.

He has lost all the credibility he never really had in a matter of two seasons.

Now, when all we want to hear from Manziel is nothing, his lack of saying anything is what is making people angry.

Most Browns fans old enough to remember the glory days in Cleveland hold a firm place in their hearts for Bernie Kosar, and when some young, unproven, circus act of a quarterback disrespects the former hero, people aren’t happy. Not answering a single phone call is worse than missing the final game of the season in the eyes of some, which shows just how loyal this fan base is to those who care about the Cleveland Browns and what the name stands for.

Or at least what is used to stand for before 1999.

The deep sense of longing to get back to the winning days may be why Kosar cares so much, and Manziel’s response shows what is wrong with this current team.

There are players who care, but management has failed the fans by not constructing an environment that promotes success.

The fact that Manziel is still on the roster is insane. He has ruined his second, third, and fourth chance, yet he is still technically a member of the Cleveland Browns.

If Jimmy Haslam wants this team to get back to the way it played when Kosar was the quarterback, players like Manziel have no part in the team’s plans.
