This is the obvious choice. The Manziel to Dallas rumors have been extremely strong since he declared for the NFL draft. The Cowboys would eventually pass on selecting Manziel, instead opting for Notre Dame offensive guard Zack Martin – who has become a star on an outstanding offensive line – a selection that was very much against the wishes of owner Jerry Jones.

Jones has admitted that he spent a lot of time ruminating on passing up drafting Manziel and has spoken dreamily many times about his admiration for Manziel. The cavalier Cowboys owner and general manager seems the most likely to give Manziel a second shot in the NFL, even if it goes against his own front office’s better judgement.

On Manziel’s side, there have been rumors for some time that he would prefer to play in his native Texas and be closer to home. During his tenure with the Browns, he has spent much of his free time in the Lone Star state, regularly choosing to return to Texas rather than stay in Cleveland.

The Cowboys have a  quality starting quarterback in Tony Romo for the present, and they would be able to groom Manziel as his eventual successor when the 35-year old Romo – who has struggled with injuries in recent years – decides it is time to hang it up.
