Cleveland Browns: 5 teams to call about a Johnny Manziel trade
Current quarterback situation: Nick Foles (starter), Case Keenum (backup), Sean Mannion (backup)
Johnny Manziel in Los Angeles? Now that would be something, seeing a quarterback that enjoys the bright lights playing in the city where the lights shine brightest of all.
The newly (re)minted Los Angeles Rams are searching for a solution at quarterback and may be willing to take a chance on Manziel, as they were one of the teams reportedly interested in Manziel in the 2014 draft.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Rams did a lot of pre-draft work on Manziel back in 2014 and gave strong consideration to drafting him. They decided to pass on Manziel and instead took one-man wrecking crew Aaron Donald, who has been a sensation as a pro. General manager Les Snead and head coach Jeff Fisher may now decide Manziel is worth another look at a much cheaper price.
The Rams not gotten much from draftee Case Keenum or Nick Foles, the quarterback they acquired in the Sam Bradford trade. Manziel was reportedly involved in trade discussions when the Browns were trying to trade for Bradford themselves, but they did not manage to complete a deal.
Fisher likes his football teams to play with a swagger and a cockiness, something that Manziel has in buckets. With a ferocious defense and strong run game headed by Todd Gurley, Fisher may believe that Manziel can give him something extra at quarterback.
