Johnny Manziel reportedly hit his ex-girlfriend so hard he ruptured her eardrum, according to her account of the incident.

Exactly one month remains until the Cleveland Browns are expected to cut Johnny Manziel, and the day cannot come soon enough.

January 29 was the night Manziel reportedly hit his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, and more details came out Monday about that unfortunate night.

Crowley’s written account of the night, reported on yesterday by NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, only makes Manziel’s claims of innocence seem that much more false.

The written account was part of a protective order for Crowley against Manziel. The former NFL starting quarterback signed the order, according to the article.

The need for a protective order is bad enough, but Crowley’s claims involve more than just arguing and a Manziel breakdown.

From the article on NBC 5’s website, this is what allegedly occured:

"NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel hit his girlfriend Colleen Crowley so severely on Jan. 29 that she suffered a ruptured eardrum and still can’t hear in her left ear, the woman’s attorney said Monday. “They expect (her ear) to heal but it’ll take a while,” Dallas attorney Kathy Kinser told NBC 5."

Personal opinions on Manziel aside, there is no way he can lie his way out of this situation. The spoiled kid who could not adjust to a professional life allegedly just did something unforgivable, and now he will have to pay the price.

The city of Dallas opened its investigation of the assault last week, drawing questions of why they would do so after charges were not initially filed, but this new explanation allows for it to make sense.

Ignorant people may argue that Crowley should not have been around him in the first place, but life is much easier in hindsight.

No one should have to deal with any emotional or physical pain, and Manziel allegedly hitting Crowley to the point of her losing hearing, even if temporarily, is insanity. Hitting her in the first place should get him suspended, if true, but his chances of being on a team next season don’t seem great right now.

If not for the nature of business and an inherent sense of masochism associated with the city, the Browns would have already cut him.

But the day will come soon enough, and no one in Cleveland will have to worry about the Browns’ reputation being tarnished by someone who never appreciated the opportunity to play in the NFL.
