Johnson Bademosi

Age: 25

Experience: 4 years

Contract status: Free agent 2016

Johnson Bademosi has primarily served as a valuable member of the special teams unit in his four years with the Browns. Bademosi had been a free safety, but the Browns moved him to corner in training camp and when injuries hit the secondary Bademosi saw significant playing time at cornerback.

As a corner, Bademosi was out of position against faster and more talented playmakers. What was puzzling was Bademosi was often lined up against the opposing teams’ top receivers, resulting in awful performances when he was asked to guard Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. This was not Bademosi’s fault, however, as the coaching staff put him in a position to fail.

2016 Outlook:

Bademosi is a free agent and the new staff will have to make a decision on the veteran special teamer and defensive back. Luckily for Bademosi, he has already played for defensive coordinator Ray Horton, which helps his chance of returning as a special teamer. While Bademosi is a valuable special teams player, he is not a No. 1 or No. 2 cornerback.

Bademosi will likely receive a one-year contract and be asked to win his roster spot in training camp this summer.

JOHNSON BADEMOSI. D. Bademosi was quite frankly awful at corner back this season. However, he was playing out of position and against significantly better receivers. Bademosi continued to be a valuable special teamer and leader in the locker room.. DB. Cleveland Browns
