2016 NFL Mock Draft: Cleveland Browns select Jared Goff
FanSided released a network-wide mock draft which sees the Cleveland Browns select Jared Goff with the second overall pick.
Another week and another mock draft.
This time the mock draft comes from FanSided, and features picks by an expert from each of the 32 NFL sites in the FanSided family.
Dawg Pound Daily had its say and had the Cleveland Browns select California quarterback Jared Goff with the second overall pick.
From the article:
"With Joey Bosa off the board, the door is opened for the Cleveland Browns to take a quarterback. And the best one on the board (at least right now) is California’s Jared Goff. The 6’4 junior had a record-setting season, throwing for 4,714 yards and 43 touchdowns. He looked great on the national stage in the Armed Forces Bowl when he threw for 467 yards and six touchdowns. The (hopeful) return of Josh Gordon will give Goff an elite target as a rookie, something that sets him up to be a success story at a position that has been a problem for the Browns since 1999.Goff is only 21 years old so there is still a great deal of learning to do, which could mean starting the season behind Josh McCown. Fans may be impatient and want to see Goff on the field right away, but there is no need to rush someone who can gain valuable experience behind a veteran quarterback.Based on the failures of quarterbacks recently drafted by this team, fans may not want to take such a risk. But with the new leadership in place, the overtly bad drafts seem to be a thing of the past, with the new era starting with the second overall selection and Jared Goff."
Goff appears to be the best QB option at this point in time, but the rising stock of Carson Wentz must be kept in mind leading up to the draft.
