Jason Spriggs, Offensive Tackle, Indiana

3-Cone Drill: 7.70 seconds
20-Yard Shuttle: 4.44 seconds

The best right tackle in the league left the Cleveland Browns in free agency for the Kansas City Chiefs. And on top of that, there is a very strong possibility the best left tackle in the league, Joe Thomas, could be traded. Either way, clearly the Browns need an offensive lineman, especially one who can play the tackle position.

The Big Ten has a couple of really good players entering this year’s draft in Jack Conklin and Taylor Decker, making Jason Spriggs out of Indiana easy to overlook. But don’t overlook him too far. Spriggs was a four-year starter at Indiana and was named first team All-American by Football Writers of America and third-team honors by the Associated Press as a senior.

One thing many scouts have noticed while watching Spriggs is how well he blocks when the quarterback is in the pocket, and his willingness to block until the whistle. Coaches will covet this guy to protect their quarterback’s blindside. And remember: The last time the Browns drafted a left tackle from the Big Ten, he turned out to be pretty good.
