Former Cleveland Browns linebacker Karlos Dansby will be playing for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016.

The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of a major rebuild, or so it seemed before the signing of Robert Griffin III.

Most of the top talent on the team was let go, or not gone after aggressively enough in free agency.

Karlos Danby was one of the players let go, and he has already found a new home.

Dansby signed with the Cincinnati Bengals and is excited about the move.

Letting Dansby go frees up spots for younger players, such as Demario Davis, to come in and be a part of this younger core in Cleveland.

The only problem with the move is that the Browns let a great leader go, and one who could have helped out the younger players the Browns want to have on the field.

Just like a quarterback, a linebacker is looked to as a leader on the field. Dansby has proven he can be that leader, and he could have been an asset on the roster, just like Josh McCown will be if he remains on the team for the 2016 season, although that possibility looks less likely each day.

Releasing Dansby was a bold move by the front office. A leader was lost, but a statement was made that change is needed with the Browns.

The argument comes up that rebuilding the roster is smart because the team has been so bad, and that seems to be a mindset taken by this new regime.

With the news that Barkevious Mingo has reportedly gained 20 pounds, he seems to be an option to help pick up the slack on defense. It may be his last year to prove himself, or he may be out of Cleveland in 2016, which is not a terrible thing for most players.

Dansby being released also opens up the possibility of drafting UCLA’s Myles Jack, either with the second overall pick or by trading down in the first round. But with the player visits the Browns have had, what they will do with that second overall pick remains a great mystery.

What isn’t a mystery is that Dansby will likely terrorize Griffin, or whoever is playing quarterback for the Browns in 2016, twice a season as a member of the Bengals.
