The SEC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and a consensus All-American, Reggie Ragland was the heart of the Crimson Tide’s defense as Alabama claimed another national title.

After spending his first two years as mostly a special-teams contributor while backing up C.J. Mosley, Ragland moved into the starting lineup in 2014 and quickly turned into not only a top run-stopper, but also a player whose instincts and athleticism could lead to being a three-down linebacker at the NFL level.

“He’s got some pass rush abilities which we didn’t really develop here because he didn’t play that position for us and we had other guys who sort of did that pretty well for us,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban told al.com. “I think that’s an area that people will be surprised and how they’ll be able to develop him as a pass rusher as well.”

Raglan is also the kind of linebacker who, according to CBS Sports, “demonstrates the blend of size, aggression, instincts and reliable open-field tackling skills to project well inside to 4-3 and 3-4 principles, alike. He works off blocks well with balance and anticipation, looking through blockers to keep his eyes on the prize, doing a much better job downhill rather than in reverse. Dirtiest jersey on the field and plays each snap like it is his last.”

Sounds like a player who would be right at home in the AFC North.
