The Cleveland Browns need help along the defensive line and UCLA’s Kenny Clark could be an answer come draft night.

After a lackluster rookie season from Danny Shelton and the loss of starting inside linebackers Craig Robertson (free agency) and Karlos Dansby (released), the front seven will likely be an area addressed by the Cleveland Browns early in the draft.

While both sides of the ball are going to need a lot of attention – and with the Browns having 10 picks in this year’s draft – there will be plenty of opportunities for the team to address the multiple glaring needs they have. As the Browns finished  near dead last in run defense again in 2015, will likely make defense a top need to fill heading into the draft.

With defensive coordinator Ray Horton back with the Browns after two years with the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland has already put themselves in position to succeed, if not this year, then in years to come. The team also went out and brought in Demario Davis in free agency, who will likely come in and become the anchor of the team’s linebacking corps.

This still leaves the issue of the defensive line up in the air. Shelton was greatly inefficient his first year in Cleveland, recording only 19 total tackles and no sacks; not the kind of production hoped for from a top-15 pick. Bringing Horton back will likely shake things up and facilitate how the Browns will draft defensively.

Horton is one of now many coordinators/coaches that run a “hybrid” defense. This fact will likely dictate how the Browns will draft defensively. A potential pair for Shelton in Horton’s hybrid scheme is UCLA defensive lineman Kenny Clark.

Here is a deeper look at Clark and what he could bring to this Cleveland defense that is in desperate need of a facelift.
