This game ends up on this list for one reason. Robert Griffin III will be making his return to his former team and, given he starts, will be able to prove that it was a mistake to replace him with Kirk Cousins.

Cousins was drafted as the fail-safe for the Redskins in 2012, and was primed to step in whenever Griffin got injured, which happened early in the Kyle Shanahan offensive scheme that also saw Johnny Manziel get injured.

With a new offense to work in, and a change of scenery, Griffin will head back to Washington with a chance at redemption.

The only problem is he will be playing with less talent, but getting the win on the road with this rebuilding team would prove to be more than just a win for revenge. It would show how much Griffin has improved since getting out of the toxic situation he was a part of in Washington.

The game is also being played one week before the New England Patriots come to Cleveland, so racking up a few wins early in the season will help to avoid a meaningless second half of the season, which has been the norm since 1999. With only one game in primetime this season, the matchup against the Redskins may be the most talked about game of the 2016 season because of Griffin’s return.
