Ray Horton’s defense is nominally a 3-4, but will throw a lot of different looks and formations at the opposition. They will switch between having 3, 4 and even sometimes 5 men on the line at any given time. Under Horton, Billings would have the opportunity to move around on the line.

In a base 3-4, Billings would be the nose tackle. He would be tasked with filling gaps and stopping the run. He was very adept at this in college and would immediately improve the Browns’ run D.

In nickel defense when the Browns will shift to more 4-3 looks, Billings would naturally slide over to 1-tech. He has the power and agility to be an effective player on pass downs and could move even further along the line in obvious passing downs. As a very strong and very mobile defensive tackle, Billings could be a versatile interior defender for Ray Horton’s defense.
