The Cleveland Browns added a quarterback to the roster by drafting USC’s Cody Kessler with the No. 93 overall pick.

The Cleveland Browns have been the king of trades in the 2016 NFL Draft and made another one in the third round.

The Browns trade the No. 77 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for the No. 93 pick. The Browns also gave up pick No. 141 in exchange for picks No. 129 and No. 168.

The trade with the Panthers got the Browns more draft picks, but also got them a rookie quarterback.

The Browns drafted USC QB Cody Kessler with the No. 93 pick, adding a rookie QB to this rebuilding team.

The team was linked with Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook leading up to the draft, but Hue Jackson must have liked Kessler all along.

He stands 6-foot-1 and was a three-year starter at USC.

The pick may surprise Browns fans, and his draft profile at NFL.com features questions about Kessler’s NFL future:

"Can orchestrate an offense with confidence and accuracy when operating from a clean pocket, but doesn’t appear to have the mentality of a player willing to take the risks necessary to strike with big plays often enough on the pro level. Kessler has moments where it is easy to like him on tape, but the traits and tape look more like those of a good, career backup than playoff starter."

While there are questions about his potential, he is not coming to Cleveland to start right away, or even in the next two years. He will learn under Jackson, while also getting to learn behind both Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown.

Jackson took a quarterback he knew he could work with, and would not have made that decision if there were too many questions on his end.

Reaction to this pick will be mixed, but fans must realize Kessler will be on the sideline for several years.
