Cleveland Browns:

Cleveland Browns embracing alumni a smart PR move

"It may have taken him almost four years, but Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam seems to have started to understand how to win the hearts of Browns fans. While winning would obviously be nice, the new regime needs some time to get that plan on track, which makes Haslam’s recent outreach to the team’s alumni a smart public relations move."

Josh McCown should expect to be the backup

"Hue Jackson has not yet named a starting quarterback for his Cleveland Browns, but there is no rush to do so. The Browns are still over a month out from the beginning of training camp, but a lot of focus has been put on Jackson for not yet naming a starter."

Cleveland Browns: Will Hue’s positive attitude result in wins?

"Hue Jackson has seemed like a savior since being signed as the team’s newest head coach earlier this year. He came to town after the team limped to a 3-13 finish under Mike Pettine, who never stood a chance of coaching the Cleveland Browns in 2016."

Josh McCown to the Jets? (Factory of Sadness)

"The quarterback room at Cleveland Browns headquarters is packed, with Robert Griffin, Austin Davis, Connor Shaw, Cody Kessler and Josh McCown studying the playbook. Griffin and Kessler are locks to make the roster, which probably leaves one more opening. With the Browns undergoing a major youth movement, it would make sense that McCown will be looking for work elsewhere before the season starts…and that could be in New York, according to ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi."

Pro Football Focus rates Browns’ roster No. 31 of 32 teams (ESPN)

"It’s no great secret the Cleveland Browns have a steep climb toward respectability. A 3-13 team is basically starting over with a new coach, new approach, new quarterback and new roster. This reboot smells like a makeover, with an emphasis on the future. The Browns have acquired extra picks in each of the next two drafts."

NFL News:

Goodell hints that Buffalo Bills need a new stadium (FanSided)

"According to Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hinted that the Buffalo Bills might need a new stadium to stay in western New York. Goodell stated, “Stadiums are important, just making sure the team here can compete not only throughout the NFL but also to compete in this environment because we’ve got great facilities here now. The Bills have to stay up with that.”"

Report: Aqib Talib told family he accidentally shot himself (Deadspin)

"Aqib Talib was taken to a Dallas hospital with a gunshot wound early Sunday morning, and initial reports had him as one of three victims at a nightclub shooting. However, Talib has maintained that he was at a park when he got shot in the thigh and was too drunk to know who shot him, but Dallas PD are investigating whether or not he was shot at V Live nightclub, as the Dallas Morning News first reported."

Marshawn Lynch: ‘I’m not playing football anymore’ (NFL.com)

"Marshawn Lynch won’t return to the NFL. After cryptically tweeting a picturing of cleats hanging from a telephone wire during the Super Bowl, indicating his retirement, there has been rampant speculation about whether the notoriously fickle running back was truly finished."
