The Cleveland Browns have made a few great decisions in the NFL Draft since returning to the league in 1999.

The Cleveland Browns have seemingly had more first-round draft busts than successes since returning in 1999. Players like Johnny Manziel, Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson are just a few recent examples, but the busts go all the way back to the expansion season.

But there are certain success stories to be found amongst the failures.

Wide receiver Corey Coleman was selected by the Browns in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft and is expected to become the team’s top receiving option for years to come.

The same was thought of 2005 first-pound pick Braylon Edwards, who had several solid seasons with the Browns only to fall out of favor after a few years.

Coleman is a different type of receiver than Edwards, so fans are hoping he can become one of the team’s best receivers since 1999 and maintain a high level of production for more than just one season.

Coleman marks the new front office’s first draft pick, which means there is a great deal of pressure on him to perform if their jobs are to remain secure. Front office members from the past can attest to that fact.

But even though there has been so much turnover in the front office since the team’s return, there are a few first-round draft picks who turned out to successful players for the franchise. There are not many, but enough to hold out hope that Coleman can be great in 2016.
