Former Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Johnson is interested in becoming a coach for the Cleveland Browns.

The Cleveland Browns have assembled a strong coaching staff heading into the 2016 season, but a former NFL star believes he can come in and be of some help.

Chad Johnson, formerly known as Chad Ochocinco, sent out a tweet earlier today expressing his interest in joining the staff.

Even if Hue Jackson has no interest, the presumptive number one receiver on the roster seemed to like the idea.

A young player like Corey Coleman is right to be excited about Johnson wanting to join the staff, but it may not be realistic at this point.

Hue Jackson has had his coaching staff in place all offseason, so there may not be a place for Johnson at this point in time. Johnson’s knowledge would be of great help, but Jackson may not want to add another voice to an already well-experienced coaching staff.

This is also not the first time Johnson has made this request, so if nothing came of it the first time, the same should hold true this time.

Johnson is clearly interested, if not desperate, to get back into the game of football. He last played in a regular season during the 2011 season with the New England Patriots.

He dealt with legal problems throughout his career, so any team thinking of hiring him may want to wait a year or two to make sure nothing like that happens again. A player getting arrested is bad, but it could ruin a coach’s reputation and career.

While Johnson would be a fun addition to the coaching staff, it is something that is not likely to happen. Perhaps if he reaches out to Jackson after the 2016 season, he can be invited to minicamp next season to prove himself as a coach.
