Though last season appeared to solidify a starting role for Cleveland running back Isaiah Crowell, troubles on and off the field have led to many fans changing their perspectives entering 2016. After back-to-back solid seasons in 2014 and 2015, Crowell entered this season’s training camp a little sluggish and unprepared. While he still remains the top running back currently, his antics have not pleased head coach Hue Jackson and the offensive coaching staff.

Crowell’s preseason performances have been troublesome as well. While part of the blame needs to be placed on a struggling offensive line, Crowell just does not look sharp on the ground, often times running right into the line. His laziness has extended even further this preseason, dropping passes and missing blocks. Even though this doesn’t reflect directly upon Crowell’s fantasy points, these small shortcomings could land him on the bench, where he would not produce any fantasy points.

Though they haven’t made it very clear, there are indications that Cleveland’s coaching staff is not satisfied with Crowell. If he struggles, fans are likely to see Duke Johnson replace him in his starting role early on. This new regime provides no guarantees, so Crowell’s early struggles make him one player to avoid during a fantasy draft.
