Dawg Pound Daily co-editor Steven Kubitza discussed this Sunday’s Cleveland Browns opener on the Best in the World Sports Report.

The Cleveland Browns are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday in a matchup of two teams looking to move in a new direction.

Both teams have new head coaches and new starting quarterbacks, although the Eagles appear to have a better chance of success in 2016.

The Browns last played the Eagles in 2012, a 17-16 win for the Eagles in Brandon Weeden‘s NFL debut. It was also Trent Richardson‘s debut. Ah, good times.

To learn more about this year’s matchup, and also shed some light on the 2016 Browns, I recently appeared on the Best in the World Sports Report. We start talking Browns vs. Eagles at the 47-minute mark.

The conversation touches on the reaction to the Browns passing on Carson Wentz, the outlook for the season and the differing viewpoints held by fans in Cleveland. That is, the battle between the 0-16 and the 9-7 crowd.

An interesting part of the conversation comes when the hosts explain how the Philly fan base does not have high expectations for Sunday’s game. Wentz is the starter after limited action in the preseason, and the Browns defense will exploit his lack of experience all game.

The only problem is that the Browns defense is filled with young players as well, so this should actually be a competitive game, although maybe not the most exciting to watch.

The podcast features more coverage on the Eagles specifically, so be sure to listen to the entire show if you want to get in a quick scouting report before Sunday.

Next: Hue Jackson and Browns coaching debuts

While Browns fans may be in for another disappointing season, it will certainly not be a boring one. And hey, maybe Hue can bring the magic back to the Browns. A 9-7 season may even earn him a statue outside FirstEnergy Stadium.
