Daily Dawg Tags: Cody Kessler set to start in Miami
Spanning the virtual globe to bring you the latest news about the Cleveland Browns and the NFL – these are your Daily Dawg Tags for Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The loss against the Baltimore Ravens was a tough one for Cleveland Browns fans to watch, but the Week 3 matchup against the Miami Dolphins may be even tougher after Monday’s injury news.
Josh McCown, the second starting quarterback of the season, is out with an injury, meaning rookie Cody Kessler will start this Sunday. He now becomes the third starting quarterback of the season, and the fifth starting quarterback in five games for the Browns.
No one expected 2016 to be a year filled with many wins, but losing two quarterbacks in two weeks makes it that much more difficult to win any games. Kessler could surprise us all next week, but making his debut on the road against a terrifying Dolphins defensive line will not exactly be easy.
So while we await another game with a new quarterback, let’s take a look at the news surrounding the Browns and the rest of the NFL in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns news:
Cody Kessler set to become 26th starting QB since 1999

Cleveland Browns: Grades from home opener vs. Ravens
"There is little to explain when it comes to the Cleveland Browns’ 25-20 loss Sunday in their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens. The team simply collapsed after a fast start and proved to Browns fans that they continue to be experts at finding ways to lose."
Cleveland Browns: The injuries are already beginning to pile up
"The Cleveland Browns never seem to catch a break. After having a late-game drive ruined by a phantom taunting call on Terrelle Pryor and subsequently losing Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, news broke Monday that quarterback Josh McCown is out with a shoulder injury. This means rookie quarterback Cody Kessler is starting for the Browns in Week 3, making him the fifth starter in the last five games for the Browns."

Adrian Peterson injury update: Torn meniscus
"The Minnesota Vikings had to deal with yet another injury in the 2016 NFL season, as star running back Adrian Peterson hurt his knee in the Vikings’ Sunday Night Football victory over the Green Bay Packers, 17-14. After he was seen being carried through a restaurant into the Vikings locker room at brand-new US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, fans were left to wonder about the extent of Peterson’s injury."
Teammates Abandoning Loyalty to Kirk Cousins (NFL Spin Zone)
"To kick off the season, the Washington Redskins have fallen to the last place in the NFC East with their second loss in as many games. After all, it was the quarterback that gave up an interception in the end zone and had a completion percentage of just 60.9 for the Week 3 matchup."
