Daily Dawg Tags: The easy choice to re-sign Isaiah Crowell

facebooktwitterreddit

The Cleveland Browns had a rough year on offense, but the running game was successful thanks in large part to Isaiah Crowell.

While much of the free agent focus is on Jamie Collins and Terrelle Pryor, the Cleveland Browns are still looking to work out a deal for Isaiah Crowell, who is a restricted free agent.

The Browns did not run the ball often in 2016, but Crowell was able to manage 952 yards on just 198 carries. This marked his third straight season with a new career-high in both carries and yards.

The Browns are rebuilding much of the roster, but the running back position is rather stable with both Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr. receiving the bulk of the workload.

It is tough to gauge Crowell’s true value after another season in which the offense was a mess, but it does appear that he is a safe signing for the Browns. He has never had a fumbling problem, and has never done anything on the field that would warrant anyone calling for his job.

Crowell being a restricted free agent should mean there is no chance he is on another team next season, especially when retaining him will only cost a few million dollars. In an offseason full of changes, the running back position should remain the same. Let’s look at this and more in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.
