Cleveland Browns fans may get carried away when certain top prospects say things, as any of the top players may be drafted by the Browns.

The NFL Draft is still two months away, but some Cleveland Browns fans have already turned on some top prospects who could make the team better.

Myles Garrett is the main source of anger for fans, due to a video in which he jokingly asks for Dallas to trade up and select him, along with the fact he isn’t attending the draft so he can spend time with his family.

His Dallas video was clearly a joke, but let’s focus on the fact he isn’t attending the draft. This should really not be an issue, as he wants to spend it at home with loved ones instead of sitting around a table with a select few.

It should not even be a point of discussion, but some fans have taken to the free airwaves of social media to be appalled at such a decision. These people must forget that Joe Thomas skipped the draft in 2007 to go fishing. He turned out just fine.

And Browns fans should not even care about Garrett’s decisions right now, as he is not even a member of the team. Some fans get carried away and declare him to be a disgrace to the city, even though he has never been a member of the Browns.

This type of anger at such minuscule things is a product of owning the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. With several players being legitimate options at No. 1 overall, fans look at all of them as potential Browns.

Yet while fans expect these players to beg to be taken by the Browns, the players understand the fact only one player is headed to Cleveland. They just want to be drafted, and go to a team that has some structure. The Browns look to be setting up a great foundation, but it would be foolish to expect someone like Garrett to openly plead for the Browns to select him, when they likely will anyway.

Having pride in a team and a city is part of being a sports fan, but the pride should never lead to hating a player who has never done anything to wrong that team or city. It only hurts the reputation of the team, and leads to future players not wanting to come here.
