The Cleveland Browns may be considering several players with the No. 1 overall pick, but Myles Garrett remains the clear favorite.

Myles Garrett entered the NFL Combine as the top overall prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft, and his performance in Indianapolis only reinforced his reputation. Now it is up to the Cleveland Browns to make the easy choice and draft him at No. 1 overall.

Rumors have been swirling about the Browns having interest in the quarterbacks at the top of the draft class, but it may all be smoke, as the Browns may have already decided to take Garrett. Or one can hope.

Garrett worked out on Sunday, and provided fans and scouts alike with an amazing display of athleticism.

His performance was not entirely surprising, but it did reinforce the idea that he is truly a top talent, and not just overhyped by the media leading up to the draft.

We all know that there is a difference between Combine results and how a player performs in an actual football game, but Garrett proved his value on the field while at Texas A&M. Just imagine that speed chasing down a running back in the NFL. It would surely give the Browns a force on defense.

The draft is just under two months away, but there is no reason why Garrett should not already be the Browns’ choice at No. 1 overall. If the team does indeed want a quarterback, the No. 12 pick can be traded up for someone like Mitchell Trubisky, although he could even fall to that No. 12 slot.

But when it comes to the No. 1 overall pick, there should be no discussions. All the Browns need to do is take Garrett’s tape from the season, along with his performance today at the Combine, and write his name on the draft card.

His presence would help fix one of the worst defenses in all of football, while owning the No. 12 pick still allows the team to take an offensive skill player if they wish to do so. But passing on Garrett would be a mistake that may set the team back several years in its development.
