The quarterback choices for the Cleveland Browns continue to dwindle as Tyrod Taylor has agreed to remain a member of the Buffalo Bills.

The fun of the NFL offseason is going over the vast possibilities of players who could end up becoming Cleveland Browns. And in 2017, the focus is on all the quarterbacks who could come to town this year.

Well, we can take one more name off the list as Tyrod Taylor is not going to be available in free agency.

Taylor was rumored to be a potential target for the Browns, but it all depended on whether or not he was let go by the Bills. So perhaps the front office never fully committed to the idea of Taylor in Cleveland, as it required more than just a simple contract offer.

With Taylor now staying put, that leaves Jimmy Garoppolo as the last likely target for the Browns when it comes to current NFL quarterbacks. But even he may not be a realistic target, as we do not know what the Patriots truly want in return. If it is just the No. 12 pick and some later assets, that is fine. But if they want several first-round picks, it may not be worth it when the Browns can just draft a rookie quarterback.

It may take until draft day to find out what the Patriots really want in return, so be patient Browns fans. We may not know the starting quarterback for 2017 until the end of April, when either a trade is made or a rookie is brought to town. The alternative is letting Cody Kessler or Robert Griffin III duel for the starting job, so let’s hope a move is made to bring a new face to town.

Tyrod Taylor was a longshot at best, but him staying with the Bills shows that the Browns must decide upon an option soon. It is fine to wait until the draft, but they must be careful not to miss out on a guy they want. If they do, 2017 may be a repeat of 2016.
