Dawg Pound Daily 2017 NFL Mock Draft: Final edition
The Cleveland Browns are on the clock and the spotlight is on. Myles Garrett is the likely No. 1 overall selection, but we project all of their picks.
There is nothing quite like the NFL Draft for Cleveland Browns fans and in 2017 the stakes have only gotten higher. Cleveland owns the No. 1 overall pick for the first time since 2000 when the team selected Courtney Brown.
Obviously, the Browns are striving to improve this time around and owner Jimmy Haslam needs a solid first rounder to bolster his image. This team simply cannot afford to whiff, and owning the draft’s top selection only enforces that pressure.
The Browns lack talent at many positions beyond quarterback. Most consider Myles Garrett the No. 1 prospect of this class as he’s regarded as one of the highest rated defensive ends to enter the draft since Von Miller.
However, there is nothing the fans of Cleveland deserve more than a stable, franchise quarterback. On top of that, a Cleveland-native sits atop of the quarterback class this season and his name is Mitch Trubisky. The North Carolina Tar Heel impressed scouts in his lone season as the starter and looks to have the tools of a legitimate franchise quarterback.
The debate of Garrett vs. Trubisky has grown into reality in Cleveland. Reports of disagreements in Berea, OH only influence the chaos the NFL Draft typically generates. The coaching staff wants Garrett whereas Haslam is reportedly set on drafting a quarterback.
The Cleveland Browns have remained uncharacteristically quiet throughout the draft process this season. For once, they own the spotlight and have the opportunity to finally not be the league’s laughing-stock. So without further ado, here is our final mock draft before the big night.
