The Cleveland Browns successfully navigated their way through the first week of Organized Team Activities without any calamities.

The Cleveland Browns made it through the first week of Organized Team Activities with no major drama.

Sure, first-round draft picks Myles Garrett and Jabrill Peppers were not full participants because of “minor injuries.” And starting wide receiver Corey Coleman left practice one day after landing the wrong way on a ball.

But for the most part things were quiet as the coaching staff continued to get a feel for the new players and returning veterans, as well as the quarterback trio of Cody Kessler, Brock Osweiler and DeShone Kizer.

No drama. No season-ending injuries. No one making a fool of themselves off the field. All in all, a good week.

The Browns will be back at it next week with the second round of OTAs, which will take place Tuesday through Thursday.

Let’s all hope for more of the same positive news.

Comparing Browns draft pick retention from 2011-16 (Dawgs By Nature)

"Jeff Hunter, a contributor over at Buffalo Rumblings, posted an infographic on NFL draft pick retention for each team from 2001-2016. We know the Cleveland Browns have been pretty terrible with their picks over the years, but with every team listed and the color indicators, it’s very easy to compare just how good or bad teams were during certain stretches."

"Browns quarterback Cody Kessler spent the offseason on a quest of constant improvement. From the basic mechanics of throwing the football, to improving his core strength, to a new diet aimed at maximizing his potential, the second-year signal-caller worked to perfect the things that held him back during a rookie year of highs and lows."

NFL news:

Richard Sherman won’t let go and that is a problem (ESPN)

"Nobody could have predicted the strangest storyline from the 2017 offseason: Richard Sherman, a future Hall of Famer in his prime, open to a trade, and the Seahawks open to shipping him. Tensions lurked beneath the surface, but the Seahawks were building something special, on an ascent toward a limitless future."

Roger Goodell is on a mission to mend fences with the players (MMQB)

"In the first relatively drama-free offseason in a while, the commissioner is taking steps toward repairing previously broken relationships."

Time to stop pretending to care when players skip OTAs (Deadspin)

"Every May, without fail, the NFL storylines are the same. (Take, for example, “the most May 22 tweet of all time.”) A particularly common one is the raft of headlines shouting “[PLAYER] Is Skipping OTAs,” followed by reams of copy that purport to explain why, and what it all means. It means nothing."

Will Jimmy Garoppolo be in New England past 2017? (PFF)

"The growing belief is the Patriots will either extend his contract or place a tag on him."
