Daily Dawg Tags: Another key piece signs an extension

The Cleveland Browns continued to solidify the roster by signing linebacker Christian Kirksey to a four-year extension on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Browns have been applauded for a great offseason, and that continued on Tuesday with the news that Christian Kirksey had been signed to a four-year extension.

He joins Jamie Collins as one of the cornerstones of the defense, hopefully for the duration of both of their new deals.

Kirksey was drafted under a different front office, but it is great to see the current group in charge realize his talent and lock him up instead of taking a chance with an unproven rookie. When the talent is evident, it must be retained.

Keeping Kirksey only helps this defensive unit that is poised for a major turnaround under Gregg Williams. The addition of both Myles Garrett and Jabrill Peppers should hopefully breathe some life into a defense that was inexperienced in 2016 and just didn’t do well in Ray Horton’s scheme.

Since it is only the end of May all we can do is be optimistic, especially now that so many players are set to be here for the foreseeable future. Let’s take a look at that and more in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.
