A recent article ranked the best players in the NFL by jersey number, and the Cleveland Browns had several players make the list.

Training camp is still over a month away which means Cleveland Browns fans remain in a holding pattern. So what better way to pass the time than checking out interesting power rankings?

A recent article on NFL Spin Zone ranked the best players in the NFL by jersey number, with Cam Newton kicking things off with the No. 1.

A list like this is unique in that it may involve players of different positions competing for some of the spots.

These lists are fun, but Browns fans often go through them without seeing too much representation from the hometown team. But that is different in 2017, as the following players made this list:

No. 23: Joe Haden

No. 34: Isaiah Crowell

No. 51: Jamie Collins

No. 73: Joe Thomas

No. 95: Myles Garrett

More from Dawg Pound Daily

Any list that includes Joe Thomas is not surprising, but it is interesting to see the Browns so well-represented on this list. Even Myles Garrett getting the nod at No. 95 without playing a game shows how much potential he has to dominate in 2017.

This list illustrates the fact that this team, while not expected to do too much this year, does have talent all throughout the roster.

The problem is the lack of a franchise quarterback, but this knowledge is nothing new for Browns fans.

But turning the franchise around begins with acquiring talent to become leaders on the team both in the present and the future, and the Browns have done that both through free agency and the draft.

Signing Collins gives the defense someone with experience to lead the unit, while the presence of Joe Haden on the outside provides another veteran voice. Add in the young defensive players and there is plenty of potential in 2017.

Turning that potential into wins is another thing, but for now it is nice to see five players on the team recognized as some of the better players in the NFL.
