Two Cleveland Browns players recently appeared on a list of the 50 most untradeable NFL players in 2017. Both are at much different stages in their careers.

The Cleveland Browns are still in the midst of a rebuild, which means youth will be valued and the front office will constantly be looking to upgrade the team whenever possible.

That means trading away talent to acquire draft picks or to unload a major contract. There aren’t many blockbuster trades in the NFL, but they still happen from time to time.

While the Browns have some talent that could warrant assets in return, there are some players who just can’t be traded, which was the focus of a recent NFL Spin Zone post breaking down the 50 most untradeable players in the NFL.

The Browns had two players make the list in Myles Garrett and Joe Thomas, and both are obvious choices for different reasons.

The fact the Browns didn’t trade out of number one overall showed they were committed to building a defense around Garrett, so he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, most of the Browns’ draft picks are untradeable as the front office is looking for the young group to be the future of this team.

Then there is Thomas, whose name has been brought up in potential trades the last several years.

He is one of the best tackles to ever play the game and could bring something nice in return, but losing him would do far more damage than good for this Browns team.

And trading Thomas may not even result in a first-round pick, so it would be a horrible decision. He has been protecting Browns quarterbacks from complete and total annihilation since 2007, and losing him would destroy this rebuilding offense.

Luckily, Thomas appears to be staying here for the foreseeable future, and opposing teams can forget about even inquiring about the star tackle.
