Cleveland Browns: Jabrill Peppers signs deal, wisely avoids holdout
The Cleveland Browns agreed to a deal with Jabrill Peppers and have now officially signed all ten draft picks before the start of training camp.
While most of the world, or at least people I know, were watching Game of Thrones Sunday night, the Cleveland Browns were busy.
The team finally signed Jabrill Peppers, ending the possibility of a contract holdout that would have provided an unnecessary distraction.
No one wanted a holdout, but fans were starting to get worried as training camp got closer and Peppers remained unsigned. But worry no more!

The Browns have now signed all ten of the 2017 draft picks, which is impressive considering that includes three first-round picks. But neither side ever wants a holdout, so it was great to see these deals get done before camp begins Thursday.
Getting all these deals signed provides a nice finish to what was one of the better offseasons in recent memory. The Browns drafted top talent and brought in some major free agents to improve the roster one year after openly ripping apart the roster and tanking, even if the front office doesn’t like to use that word.
The team must now continue these good vibes with wins in 2017, which is all that ultimately matters when 2018 begins and fans reflect on the season. Maybe the Browns will still be playing well into January. One can dream.

For now, fans can rest easy knowing Peppers will be in camp with his teammates. He is finally set to play his natural position after playing all over the field in college and should be a key piece in Gregg Williams’ defense, while potentially being a major factor in the return game as well.
