The Cleveland Browns didn’t do much on offense, but the defense had a nice game to beat the New York Giants and remain undefeated in the preseason.

Just like staring into the sun to catch a glimpse of a solar eclipse, preseason games aren’t easy on the eyes.

That remained true Monday night as the Browns pulled out a 10-6 victory over the New York Giants in a game marred by injuries, mainly the one to Odell Beckham. Yet the tackle made on Beckham was a clean hit, so there is no need to linger on it unless the league wants to make rule changes.

As for the Browns, the game continued to exhibit the fact Brock Osweiler‘s status as starter may not be lasting too long. He went 6-8 for 25 yards and threw an interception, while DeShone Kizer went 8-13 for 74 yards. He also led the team with 35 rushing yards and picked up the only touchdown of the game on the ground.

To be fair to Osweiler, he was once again without Joe Thomas at left tackle, but he still didn’t look too good out there. It would be nice to see Kizer go up against a first-team defense, but doing so may disrupt his development more than it will help.

With all the questions remaining on the roster, a win is always nice. Myles Garrett picked up a sack and Jabrill Peppers dazzled in the return game, giving Browns fans a glimpse of the greatness to come.

The entire defense held the Giants to just 212 yards on offense and forced three turnovers. It is the preseason, as you will hear from so many people, but this was a great sign for Gregg Williams’ defense. He brought blitzes all night and players from the first-team to the third were making big plays.

The offense is still worrisome, but that was expected when the year began. Fans won’t know how good this team can be until a quarterback is decided upon for the long-term, which may not even happen this season.

Let’s take a look at last night’s game and more in today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Tags.
