The Cleveland Browns made several player moves as the team prepares for the third preseason game of the summer.

The Cleveland Browns made several player moves on Wednesday that were not related to naming a starting quarterback for Saturday’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A trio of injured players were part of the moves, as the Browns put linebacker Tank Carder and offensive lineman Matt McCants on injured reserve. The club also waived defensive back Justin Currie with an injury designation.

All three were injured in Monday night’s game against the New York Giants, as Currie and McCants suffered ankle injuries, while Carder tore his ACL.

The team announced the moves on their website.

Those transactions come a day after the Browns released veteran defensive tackle Desmond Bryant.

Joining the Browns are defensive lineman Brandon Thompson and defensive back Christian Bryant.

Bryant was a second-round selection by the then-St. Louis Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, so he will immediately be a favorite among some Browns fans.

He suffered a broken ankle his final season with the Buckeyes, which may have hurt his draft stock, and appeared in just nine games for the Rams before being released.

The 5-foot-9 and 195-pound Bryant spent time with the Arizona Cardinals early in the 2016 season, appearing in two games, before being released and joining the practice squad of the New York Giants. The Cardinals brought him back late in the season after injuries to Tony Jefferson and Taylor Boggs.

Thompson was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He appeared in three games with the Bengals during his rookie season, then moved up to play in 27 games, making seven starts, during the next two seasons.

The 6-foot-2 and 302-pound Thompson was a part-time player again in 2015, playing in nine games, before missing all of last season after suffering a torn ACL in Cincinnati’s game on Jan. 3, 2016, against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Bengals released him on Sunday.
