The Cleveland Browns made some additions to the practice squad on Tuesday, but also found out that one of their practice squad players has some legal trouble.

The Cleveland Browns added three players to the practice squad on Tuesday, bringing the squad to nine players.

The bad news is that number could conceivably drop by one in the days to come.

Cleveland brought back wide receiver Rashard Higgins, a 2016 fifth-round draft choice who definitely needs more work, and safety Kai Nacua, a hard hitter who definitely should have been on the final roster instead of Calvin Pryor or Ibraheim Campbell. Joining them is defensive back Darius Hillary.

The team announced the moves on its website.

All three players spent the preseason with the club.

In not so positive news, defensive tackle T.Y. McGill was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana over the weekend in Charlotte, according to The Charlotte Observer.

McGill, who the Browns signed to the practice squad on Sunday after he was released by the Indianapolis Colts, was reportedly in Charlotte to attend the North Carolina State versus South Carolina game as McGill is a former North Carolina State player.

According to the news article:

"Alcohol Law Enforcement agent Omar Qureshi was conducting surveillance at the Westin Hotel uptown around 12:15 a.m. Saturday when he saw McGill in the hotel’s valet area with “a small amount” of marijuana. Qureshi said McGill initially denied having the marijuana, but soon was cooperative. No arrest was made, Qureshi said, and no one else was charged."

The paper reached out to the Browns and the team issued a statement via email stating that they know of the situation, have talked with McGill about it and will handle things internally.

It will be interesting to see how the Browns handle the situation.

McGill isn’t on the active roster and didn’t do much in two years with the Colts, appearing in 25 games and posting five sacks. On the other hand, he wasn’t arrested, so it seems like that they will wait until McGill has his day in court on Oct. 24.
