Browns vs. Steelers: Week 1 start time, TV, radio info
By Thomas Moore
The Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers to open the 2017 NFL season. Here is how to watch or listen to today’s game.
The Cleveland Browns open the 2017 regular season today against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Browns have not won a Week 1 game since 2004 and have lost their starting quarterback to injury in the season’s first game in each of the past two seasons.
That is all in the past, however, as the Browns launch the DeShone Kizer era today. Kizer will be the only rookie quarterback to start a game today and the club hopes that he will finally end the quarterback carousel that continues to spin out of control.
While Kizer may not have opened training camp as the starter, head coach Hue Jackson always had it in the back of his mind that Kizer could take the ball on opening day, and prepared the rookie for his big moment, Kizer told clevelandbrowns.com:
"“The success that I have had in the preseason was because of the things that he has taught me – the way that you go about film study, the way that you go about how you practice and walkthroughs and things like that. He is challenging me to take that to another level to make sure that this truly becomes who I am week to week rather than having one week of great preparation and then slacking off another. He has been challenging me to continue to stay in the playbook, stay in the gameplan and continue to watch as much film as I possibly can.”"
No one knows what will happen once the ball is teed up this afternoon, but one thing is certain: it is the Browns and Week 1, so we are sure to see something that we haven’t seen before.
