The Cleveland Browns made too many mistakes in the Week 5 loss to the New York Jets, leaving fans with both positive and negative takeaways.

The Cleveland Browns fell to 0-5 on Sunday in another frustrating loss to the New York Jets. After what looked like rock bottom in last week’s blowout loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Browns once again failed to get out of their own way. It’s only Week 5 and there’s already speculation that Peyton Manning could be the next general manager.

There were positives in this game, which is a little different from last week but we’re still seeing too many of the same mistakes on a weekly basis. The false starts, the turnovers, the goal-line play-calling. Every time this team took a step forward on Sunday, they took two steps back shortly after.

Time after time in this early season, the Browns have been gift-wrapped the opportunity to gain the lead in football games and they have squandered just about all of them. From missed field goals to turnovers, I often find myself with the same bewildered look that we see on Hue Jackson’s face after each of these mishaps happen.

Let’s face it, the Browns should have beaten the Jets based on the statistics. But if they can’t close out teams that are among the worst in the NFL, where do we go from here?
