Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey took to the Cleveland airwaves on Thursday and decided it was a good time to slam the current roster.

Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey has been a busy man since being hired for the role a little less than a week ago.

On Sunday he was shown repeatedly talking with owner Jimmy Haslam during the Browns overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers. He has also engaged in “back-and-forth conversations with head coach Hue Jackson.

Dorsey has also been making the rounds of the media, both nationally (Peter King at Monday Morning Quarterback) and locally, most notably on Cleveland sports talk radio.

That is where Dorsey was on Thursday as he visited ESPN Cleveland Radio. If his comments are any indication, it is pretty clear what Dorsey and Jackson have been talking about during their meetings.

Dorsey appears to have drunk deep and long from the Kool-Aid that Jackson has been pouring in recent weeks as he has fully embraced Jackson’s mantra about the Browns not having enough talent to actually win a game, according to ESPN:

"“You know what? You gotta get a guy like that players. And you know what, I’ll come straight out with it, the guys who were here before and that system, they didn’t get real players. I think as Bill Parcells would always say, you are your record. And you know what, there it is. That’s the truth teller in this whole thing. And I’m going to do my darndest to get Hue players. And that’s all I can ask for, and that’s all I can do. I like the man.”"

It is an interesting path that Dorsey and Jackson have chosen to go down together. Jackson has repeatedly washed his hands of any responsibility for the current state of the Browns, and in his first week on the job Dorsey has fully embraced that narrative.

Dorsey’s comments should also raise a few eyebrows in the locker room, especially among Myles Garrett, Emmanuel Ogbah, Jabrill Peppers, David Njoku, Joel Bitonio, Kevin Zeitler, JC Tretter, Jason McCourty and Joe Schobert, just to name a few.

We’re sure it must feel really good for a players like Garrett, Peppers and Tretter, who have all dealt with injuries this season and have worked hard to get back on the field, to know that the new guy looks out at the field and doesn’t see any “real players.”

Apparently saying that “you are your record” only applies to the players, at least according to Dorsey and Jackson. Somehow it is all their fault, while Jackson, who has set an NFL record for the worst start by a head coach with a team, continues to get a free pass by virtue of being in the “football guy” brotherhood.

It all makes for good talking points and keeps Browns Twitter active, but Dorsey’s comments don’t seem to serve much purpose other than to stroke his own ego. And they should give everyone pause about the possibility that he plans to blow things up once again.
