Cleveland Browns: A familiar trend emerging in FanSided’s NFL mock draft
Cleveland Browns fans may begin to notice a familiar trend in 2018 mock drafts until John Dorsey acquires a quarterback or trades some picks.
The Cleveland Browns will finally finish the nightmare 2017 season this Sunday, likely becoming just the second team in NFL history to go 0-16.
Fans want a savior at quarterback and having the number one overall pick allows John Dorsey to find his guy. Whether or not Hue Jackson will be around to coach the new quarterback remains to be seen.
FanSided’s latest 2018 mock draft follows a familiar pattern, with the Browns taking a quarterback at No. 1 overall and another offensive player at No. 4. Josh Rosen is the quarterback, while Saquon Barkley comes in with the pick acquired from Houston.
The only thing that will change these mocks is if Rosen decides to stay in school, or if he openly declares he does not want to play for the Browns. But even if he does that, the team could still take him and trade him.

Sam Darnold is another quarterback in the conversation, but even he could go back to school for another year. However, he knows he will get drafted high and it’s hard to turn down guaranteed money when your stock is so high.
And don’t forget about Baker Mayfield, who could really boost his own stock with a great showing in the College Football Playoff.
Regardless of who the team takes, fans just want to see some sort of answer at quarterback.
That could even mean signing a veteran quarterback, and still drafting a top prospect to learn from the sidelines for a year or two. Such a concept may seem foreign to Browns fans, but it would be the best option.
