Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson is the recipient of an open letter looking for answers about what went wrong.

Dear Hue Jackson,

What happened? Back in early 2016, you and Sashi Brown gave Clevelanders everywhere so much hope for the future. A mere 32 games later, and most fans have already given up on you.

Let’s talk about 2016 again, when you were first hired by the Browns. Fans saw you as the hot hire, someone they actually wanted! With you and Sashi Brown at the helm, analytics were going to change the Browns and the NFL forever.

That never happened. Not even close. In 2016, you went 1-15. But, alright, maybe that was acceptable for a first-year coach with very little talent on the roster. Then, however, came the 2017 season.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

In a league where teams rarely go winless, you found a way. Even with added talent on the roster, especially on defense, you found a route to 0-16. You, the self-proclaimed quarterback guru, have likely ruined quarterback DeShone Kizer.

But what is most intriguing is that you refuse to stick to your word, nearly every single time.

Please, on behalf of both the fans and your players, stop throwing everyone under the bus. First it was Sashi Brown, then it moved to the players. It seems you got what you wanted just a few weeks ago, as owner Jimmy Haslam fired Brown before the Week 14 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

In all honesty, Jimmy Haslam should have fired you, too. However, ownership decided to spare you, and hire John Dorsey as the general manager. Even after an 0-16 season, you are getting one final chance.

Next year, there should be no excuses. Dorsey has 12 picks in the 2018 NFL Draft (including five of the first 61) to get you the talent that you claim you do not have. You are getting another season, and whether or not you deserve it remains to be seen.

Sixteen games. Likely less, if you do not succeed quickly. Hue Jackson, the Haslam family has decided to show you mercy for one more year. Do not mess this up.

Sincerely,

Browns fans
