Browns sign defensive lineman Collin Bevins to futures deal

The Cleveland Browns added another player to their reserve/futures list on Tuesday, signing a deal with defensive lineman Collin Bevins.
The NFL playoffs may be preceding once again without the Cleveland Browns, but that does not mean the team is sitting idly by waiting for the new league year to begin.
On Tuesday, the club signed defensive lineman Collin Bevins to a reserve/futures contract.
The team announced the move on its website.
Bevins spent a few weeks in May with the Arizona Cardinals after signing with the NFC West Division team as an undrafted free agent. At the time he was also drawing interest from the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs, according to The Maryville Forum.
The Cardinals released him on May 17.
The 6-foot-4 and 266-pound Bevins originally committed to play collegiately at Iowa State before transferring to Northwest Missouri State. Once he hit campus in Maryville, Mo., Bevins quickly became a force on a team that won consecutive Div. II championships in 2015 and 2016.
Bevins was the co-MIAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 when he had 15.5 sacks and 26.5 tackles, both school records. He was also an AP Little All-America First Team selection that season.
He followed that up as a senior by recording eight sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss while earning First Team All-American honors from a variety of organizations.
Bevins finished his collegiate career as the Bearcats career leader in sacks (34) and tackles for loss (58.5).

He is the ninth player the Browns have signed to its reserve/futures list since the end of the regular season. Last week the Browns signed wide receivers Kasen Williams, Bug Howard and C.J. Board, defensive backs Trevon Hartfield and B.W. Webb, linebacker Austin Calitro, offensive lineman Victor Salako and running back Josh Rounds.
