Round 5: Will Clapp, OG, LSU

The Browns have a pretty stout offensive line — well, at least when Joe Thomas is suiting up for them. They already made that line better in this draft with the second-round selection of Tyrell Crosby out of Oregon. Now, they look for someone to back up their interior guys, which leads them to Will Clapp out of LSU.

At 6-5, 309-pounds, Clapp has the build NFL teams love. He also offers some versatility as the run-blocking expert played both center and guard for the Tigers. He needs some refinement in his technique to become a better pass blocker, but has potential down the road. For now, he’s a solid swing guard and center off the bench.

Round 5 (via Kansas City): D’Montre Wade, CB, Murray State

Speaking of players to cover multiple positions, this is the selection the Browns got for Cameron Erving, the Florida State offensive lineman who was supposed to do that. The former first-round pick never found a home with Cleveland, and they aim to use the pick obtained for him to find a diamond in the rough with Murray State’s D’Montre Moore.

While the talent he played against was suspect, Moore proved to be a ball hawk with great instincts and had six interceptions and seven pass break-ups as a senior.
