Who to target?

The funny thing is that according to sites like Spotrac, Butler is expected to make slightly more than Johnson ($13 million estimate per year compared to $11 million). That may not hold true as Johnson offers a more complete game.

Not only is Johnson more physical, but he also is just taller and has greater arm length. This allows him to do what Butler can’t, lock up with the elite players on the opposite side no matter what their height.

Johnson also has a couple more seasons under his belt than Butler, but is just a couple months younger as he turned 28 in January and Butler will do the same in March. Couple this with the fact that Johnson could see a significant jump in his level of play by reuniting with Williams and it seems like this is an easy answer.

Browns general manager John Dorsey will have plenty of cash to throw at players, but convincing them to join an 0-16 franchise in need of some serious change will be incredibly difficult. Still, it’s a job he has to do and  in this regard he should target Trumaine Johnson as the potential No. 1 corner for them.

Don’t be shocked though if the estimated contract is low. Johnson is every bit as good a player as Butler, even if his name wasn’t heard as often in 2017.
