Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi revealed on Monday the details of an injury that cost him his left hand.

Mohamed Massaquoi, who played wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns for four seasons, revealed on Monday that he had his left hand amputated in April of 2017.

Massaquoi made the revelation in a video posted on The Players’ Tribune website.

The 31-year-old former wide receiver was injured while trail riding with friends on an ATV. After taking a turn too sharply, his ATV rolled over and injured his left hand. He was taken to at hospital at the University of Georgia where doctors tried to save his hand, but he eventually lost all four fingers on the hand.

He now has a robotic hand.

The story is one of the most surprising ones that we have read in a long time and one that everyone seemed to miss when it first occurred.

Massaquoi was selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, the one and only draft where head coach Eric Mangini was calling the shots. Cleveland had three selections in the round and came away with Massaquoi, wide receiver Brian Robiskie and linebacker David Veikune.

Tackle Max Unger, guard Andy Levitre and running back LeSean McCoy, some of the other players selected that year in the second round? Nah, Mangini did not need players like that.

In four seasons with the Browns, Massaquoi would start 43 games and finish with 118 receptions for 1,745 yards and seven touchdown receptions. His best season was probably his rookie year when he caught 34 passes for 624 yards and three touchdowns.

The Browns released Massaquoi following the 2012 season. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in April of 2013 but was released just five months later and spent a week with the New York Jets in training camp in 2013. He has been out of the league ever since.

Here’s hoping him the best as he continues to recover from the injury.

PFF: Browns should select Baker Mayfield at No. 1

There’s been much debate about what the Cleveland Browns should do with the No. 1 overall pick, even though there shouldn’t be. If they fail to lure a veteran starting quarterback in free agency, the choice is simple — Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback in the class and should be the guy they choose to become their franchise quarterback.

Browns: 5 running backs to target in the draft

Time is likely running out for Isaiah Crowell with the Cleveland Browns. Duke Johnson is a good back, but Cleveland needs someone to pair with him. Perhaps their answer could come in the 2018 NFL Draft.

5 moves every NFC East team should make this offseason (ESPN)

"No team was more aggressive about acquiring talent in as many different ways over the last year than the Philadelphia Eagles. Even after moving up in the draft to grab Carson Wentz in 2016, Howie Roseman refused to stay put and continued to reshape the roster around Wentz. The Eagles added key free agents like Alshon Jeffery and LeGarrette Blount, made trades for the likes of Jay Ajayi and Tim Jernigan, and drafted contributors like Derek Barnett and Mack Hollins. You know what happened next."
