One big reason we all likely shrug at a Johnny Manziel comeback story is we have heard it all before. He was going to get his head right. He was giving up drinking. He was working out.
We even heard about him meeting with teams before the 2017 season. Or at least one team. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton reportedly met with Manziel last March and there was some discussion about whether or not he would end up with New Orleans.

We all know a party town may not be the ideal landing spot for someone with his past — would it be worse than Las Vegas where the Raiders will be moving in 2019? Outside of that, the Saints actually make sense as a football destination.
Quarterback Drew Brees is a free agent, but should return. Even so, he’s 39-years old and doesn’t have forever left to play. There’s also no one behind him grooming to be a starter, so why not add a young player that was a former first-round pick?
If anything, Manziel could learn how to be a professional from one of the best to ever play the game. If he can’t learn from Brees, he can’t learn from anyone
