Round 2: Mike Hughes, CB, UCF

After the first 32 picks are in, the Cleveland Browns will make another early decision as they have the No. 1 pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. They’ve already picked up the best running back and the best safety in the draft, so they’re looking pretty stout.

While they can’t go out and get the best guy at a certain position at this point, they can find some talent at a weak spot on their roster. That’s what leads them to drafting Mike Hughes, the cornerback out of UCF.

He’s climbed up some boards but there are concerns about him at the next level. One big concern is his lack of experience. After playing one season at North Carolina, Hughes was suspended and had to go the Community College Route. He got the attention of UCF and was able to play up to his lofty expectations that he entered UNC with a few years prior.

Hughes recorded 49 tackles, 11 pass defenses and four interceptions — one of which he returned for a score. He’s strong and sure of himself, but still worries some being just 5-foot-11 and 185-pounds. That didn’t seem to slow him down in college and shouldn’t in the pros either.
