4. Terrell Edmunds, Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech’s Terrell Edmunds, brother of Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, is another physical safety prospect. However, he projects to be just a bit faster than Texas’s DeShon Elliott at 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash, which puts him just higher on this list.

Unlike Elliott, Edmunds is supremely athletically gifted, and uses those gifts very much to his advantage. His size and speed alone make him one of the best safeties in this draft class, but he has much more going for him than just that.

Edmunds showed great coverage skills in 2017, and had the stats to back it up. Last season, he collected two interceptions, four passes defensed, and 59 tackles. During his sophomore season, he broke out with 89 tackles to go along with four interceptions.

Edmunds currently projects as a second-round pick for this year’s NFL Draft. His only real weakness is his lack of instincts as a prospect. He tends to fall back on his athleticism and physical gifts too much, and there are worries that he may not learn quickly in the NFL.

Nevertheless, a team will undoubtedly spend a pick on Edmunds early on the second day. He is too athletic, too strong, and too fast to pass up. With all the young, raw, and athletic talent on the Browns already, fans shouldn’t be too surprised to see Edmunds in orange and brown in 2018.
